Målsettingen for Demokratiuka er å gjøre Kristiansand til et senter for debatt og utvikling for å styrke menneskerettigheter, ytringsfrihet og demokrati. Demokratiuka finner sted årlig den første uka i mai og arrangeres av Universitetet i Agder, ARKIVET freds- og menneskerettighetssenter, Kilden teater og konserthus, Sørlandets kunstmuseum / Kunstsilo og Cultiva, Agder fylkeskommune og Kristiansand kommune.
